Terms of Service

The short version

Meltdown Acres is a single-player game. Play it, enjoy it, don't try to break it or resell it. It is provided as-is. Steam sells it to you, so the purchase, refunds and your Steam account are governed by Valve's terms, not these.

1. Acceptance

By installing or playing Meltdown Acres ("the game"), you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not play the game.

2. Who may play

You must be old enough to accept these terms where you live, or have permission from a parent or guardian. The Steam Subscriber Agreement also applies to your copy, because Steam is where you get it.

3. Your licence

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and play the game on computers you own or control, for your own non-commercial use.

You may not sell, rent, sublicense or redistribute the game; reverse-engineer or decompile it except where law expressly permits; remove or alter any notices; or use it to build a competing product.

4. Purchase and refunds

The game is sold and delivered by Valve, through Steam. Payment, refunds and anything to do with your Steam account are handled by Valve under its own policies. We never see your payment details.

5. Your saves

The game has no account of our own. Your saves and settings are kept on your computer. If they are deleted or your computer is lost or reset, that progress is gone and we have no copy to restore.

6. Fiction

Meltdown Acres is a comedy. The Republic of Zemlava, its reactor, its people and its paperwork are invented, and any resemblance to real people, places or events is coincidental. Do not eat anything the game suggests.

7. Intellectual property

The game and everything in it, including its code, artwork, music, sound, characters, names and the Meltdown Acres identity, belongs to TechArtists and is protected by copyright and other laws. Your licence to play does not transfer ownership of any of it.

You are welcome to record, stream and publish video of your own play, including monetised video, provided you do not present the game as your own work.

8. Updates

We may update, change or discontinue the game or any part of it at any time. We are not obliged to maintain any particular feature, and anything described on this site may change before release.

9. Disclaimer

The game is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, error-free or free of defects.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, TechArtists is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost data or lost profits, arising from your use of the game. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the greater of the amount you paid for the game or ten US dollars.

Some jurisdictions do not allow these exclusions, so they may not apply to you.

11. Termination

This licence ends automatically if you breach these terms. You may end it at any time by uninstalling the game.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the State of Texas, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Nothing here removes consumer rights that your local law grants you and does not allow to be waived.

13. Changes to these terms

We may revise these terms. The date at the top of this page shows the current version, and continuing to play after a change means you accept it.
